Holiday fun

So, Yesterday was the last day for me of teaching private lessons at an academy type place and I could not be mre thrilled to not have that to worry about any more. So Yay free time!
I promised funny things my students have said so here are some recents!

While watching the Nutcracker ballet:
-Wow! She is really good at spreading her legs! (in reference to a dancer)
-I think the chocolate dance would taste the best!
- Is the Chinese dance the dance of sushi?
-It looks like he is not wearing any pants. Well, maybe long underwear.
-they must be really energetic because this is the coffee dance and they really like coffee.
-He is using the force! (when Herr Drosselmeyer makes the tree grow)

In the halls:
-Don't Make me Kiss youuuuuuu!



Only doing this because it has songs and I have surely sung enough lately.
So here is the Christmas Carols Friday Fill in.

Life so far.

Well, the first year of teaching has started with a bang and it is quite the time.
I have seen the doctor more times than ever before in 6 months. Routine Physicals that turn into needing diagnostic tests, bronchitis, and pink eye so far and it is only Christmas. But I really do love this job. Teaching really is what I need to do.

One of my favorite things is the crazy stuff coming out of my student's mouths.
-Autistic kids screaming obscenities and removing their clothes is always fun
-Kids in my structured learning class licking me, peeing on the floor, or having strange ways of greeting or touching you.
- First graders who forget to wear pants under their snow pants when they come to school
-Constant reminders abut something that happened

Next post will be all about the wonderful quotes I have gotten so far, and remember or have written down.

bad days

Some days you just can't expect what is going to happen. Like when you have amazing plans to do a huge technology lesson all day and the server goes down all day. Where do you go from there when your back up plan involves recorders that you told the students to not bring today.
The hardest part is not being able to show the kids how you are feeling because once they see you crack, that is the end of all possibilities of productivity.

I love teaching elementary music class. The comments from the students alone are enough to make my day worthwhile.
Today I was asked:
are you 20?
can you be my new piano teacher since mine can't come to my house any more?
why are you here?

new beginning

Well this is my most recent attempt to put together a Blog. Hopefully, this will be a place that I will post my experiences in being a music teacher. So here goes nothing.
